I had a board laying on the floor that I had coated in poly...the dog walked across it ...then jumped on my leather sofa. He left pupppy tracks of poly on the sofa. I'm scared to put anything on it that might change the color of the leather. It is dark brown. Any one know of any tried and true methods?

If you use any sort of solvent on this you will remove finish and pigment from your suite. Try using a good water based foam leather cleaner and then if that does not work you should call in a leather technician as anything else will need technical products to remove it and these will cause problems that only a technician will be able to solve.

DO NOT be tempted by home made remedies on this one or by DIY products on the internet, you will ruin your suite.

A product named "Goo Gone" may be just what you are needing. It's made by Magic American Products and costs around $5.00 a bottle. Readily available at most hardware or grocery stores in your area. This is safe on materials and removes most types of glues. I have used this repeatedly in my home for jobs such as yours and have experienced great results.

You need a solvent, but a very careful solvent.
I work for a polyurethane supplier and we use Enviro-Solve wipes to get polyurethane off our hands, tools, etc.
The company we get them from is: www.21stcenturycomposites.com
However, I just looked at their website, and they seem to be having technical difficulties. You can try again later, or go to our website at: www.mountaingrout.com go to polyurethane and look under Ure-Clean wipes.
