Well dear Roberta ;
when you say a median of triangle it means an angle bisector divides the angle into two equal angles."
so ;

'G ' is between ' D ' & ' F '
so DG = GF
Now follow the formula ;
8x – 17 = 3x + 3
8x - 3x = 3 + 17
5x = 20
x = 20 / 5
x = 4

8x-17=3x+3 ~> 5x=20 ~> x=4

8x-17 = 3x+3
x=4 - this was too easy but I will not be there when you take your test.
