If you are bringing down everyone, by depression. And you feel that you will never be happy, isnt it better to leave this world and let them move on to happiness. Eventually they can get over death, but depression makes their whole lives unhappy and miserable. I think depression is more toxic for them than dealing with loss. A note could be left to let them know how much you loved them, so they wouldnt blame themselves.

The suicide would be SOOO much worse. Whether or not you leave a note, they would still blame themselves. They would wonder what else they could have done.

Also, I know this is a cliche', but suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Even though you feel like you will never be happy again, this is a part of the disease of depression. Please, please go get help. If you don't have a best friend that will listen, call the suicide hotline in your area. Here is a website that can help you find help: http://suicidehotlines.com/.

Remember, you have a disease that makes you have thoughts of suicide. It is a physical/biological brain chemistry imbalance that can be regulated. Getting help will make you feel better and keep your family from losing something very precious to them -- you.

That note you leave will NEVER be a substitute for seeing you, hugging you, or talking with you to those you matter to. You are NOT doing them a favor when you commit suicide. They will be devastated at losing you. And yes, family members can carry on after the tragic death of a loved one, but they never get over it...never. I know from experience.

Your life is very precious and worth saving. The world loses a unique person with unique insights and gifts that will never be shared if you die. And, your family will lose a piece of themselves they will never be able to replace. You matter very much in so many ways. Please don't let your individuality be lost. Talk to someone, anyone who will listen. Go to a hospital if you have no other choice. Go to a preacher, imam, rabbi, priest, priestess even if you don't subscribe to ANY religion. Heck, go find a policeman or fireman. Someone will help you because you are worth saving.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and send as much positive energy your way as I can. Good journeys always. Asha

No it is not better to commit suicide than to live with depression forever. First, suicide is forever, depression is not. There are many ways to get help for depression from medication, therapy, life changes, etc.

Suicide stays with the family members FOREVER and they have to live without knowing or ever fully understanding why the person they loved so much would choose to leave them, think it is their fault and grieve that loss every day for the rest of their lives on Earth, especially the parents of the one who commits suicide.

It is a SELFISH act to commit suicide, not a selfless or sacrifice for others. Do not fool yourself that loved ones would be better off without the depressed person, because they aren't.

If you are depressed or know someone who is so depressed that suicide looks like the better way out - PLEASE GET HELP! IMMEDIATELY!

Get help--your thinking is NOT rational.

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem,

My mother suffered and struggled 55 years with her brother's suicide in 1950. Praying that his soul was not lost.
She passed in Aug 205 at age 90.

Chemical and medicals problems can cause depression and all forms of anxiety.

Please seek therapy and medical help.

I think you are underestimating how much you are cared for by your family. If you could 'die' and hang around to hear their comments, you'd probably never have commited the suicide in the first place. But knowing you are depressed never lets you get in touch with how close they'd like to be to you. They wish you well and want you back to being healthy. Don't give up on them by giving up on yourself.

I've been in that depressive state before. I know how horrible it is. I suggest you talk to your loved ones about how you feel. They can provide you with more support than therapists....
