A lot of people have been telling me im to skinny im 5'8 and i weigh 117 pounds? Is that too skinny? I eat a ton trust me but i guess i just never gain weight. What do you think?

Yes, that is too skinny. You're too tall to weigh 117.
I'm 5'3 and my weight should be around there.

Well it depends on your bone structure (big boned, smallboned,
or inbetween). If you're big boned, you're going to need more
weight to support you than if you're small boned at the same
height. Take your middle finger and your thumb from one
hand, and wrap it around your wrist from the other hand.
If they meet together with no space, you have medium bone
structure. If they meet and there is space between them like
air, you're smallboned. If they don't meet, you're big boned.
Another useful measure is BMI.
BMI = weight (kg)
height (m)X height (m)
It's hard to say if you're too skinny, the right weight, or
too heavy (unlikely) with just your height and weight.
Again, not all people at the same height have the same bone
structure, which is why using weight and height alone is deceptive. You need to account for things such as bone structure, and also muscle/fat ratio. Some people pack on more muscle, which is why they weigh more than most people at the same height.
I'm guessing by your height and current weight, it wouldn't hurt if you
gained weight, so you're within your normal weight range for a person
of your height and bone structure, without actually seeing you in person.
117 lbs for a person who is 5 feet 8 inches seems a bit too much on the
lean side in my opinion, but I could be wrong about this.

I think that is a little on the thin side, after I am 5'2 and the smallest i am supposed to weigh is 125 for my height, but if u feel comfortable at 117 than don't worry about it. If u want to put weight on, try lifting weights since muscle weighs more.

it depends on your genes and your body structure! You might be a little too small but at your age it's OK! I know for a fact that i would look sick if i was 117 pounds! it just doesn't fit me! I look much better with a little "meat" on me! It's also in my family the women are very "voluptuous" and it just won't look cute being that skinny for me! I'm just an inch shorter than you but i wear a size 10, thick booty, and my bra siz is a 36i so i'm a very thick girl but a i have a nice size waist for my shape! So don't listen to everyone callin you skinny because obviously your metabolizim is still fast but it can slow donw with age. I know i'm 23! So relax enjoy your figure now!

My god yes that's to skinny, you must have bones sticking out, I can't imagine 5'8" and 117 lbs. I am 5'6" and 150 lbs, but I lost down to 126 lbs several years ago and I looked like warmed over death, my face was all sunk in and I just looked sick. I hope you don't look that way it's not attractive at all.

Yeah, it's pretty thin, but as long as your body fat is not less than 15%, I'm sure you look good. You can always gain some weight, by building muscle. Sounds like you just have a very high metabolism and possibly a very small frame for your height. Don't ever change to please other people, just be happy with yourself. Take care : )

Here is a different perspective, from a male who has watched for MANY years:

The perfect thighs should NOT be separate all the way to the knee, but should meet halfway down. Ribs are only to be counted at a barbecue place. Hips should not bruise your partner when you hug. And he should NOT be able to touch finger to thumb around your upper arm.

5"8" deserves at least a 125.

That's pretty thin but I bet you look fabulous.
Every body tells me I'm skinny and I weigh 130 at 5'8", I am alot older than you but still eat what ever i want whenever i want

Your fine! Your not too skinny, your not too fat! Your not to short or too tall! Now drop the freekin subject! & move on with your life!

for your height, i think you should be heavier. people say im really skinny too. some say that excercising makes you slimmer, but actually, it suppose to get you to a healthy fit (not too skinny, not too fat) do what i did. im underweight and i joined my school's tennis team. instead of losing weight, i gained some. its cuz muscle weighs more that body fat. im getting to the point were im not really, really skinny and underweight. try it out if you dont already.
