The volume button is not for the Sky receiver, its for the TV volume, you first have to find the code number in the book to match with your tv brand,then program it in. Then the Sky remote will give you control of your tv as well as your Sky box.

Mine was is the same has been since i got it 6 years ago, but the other month something was the matter with my nans, so my boyfriend phone up for her and instead of fixing the problem they told him what to do to make the volume buttton work lol. I need to phone up and do it. Good luck!

Its nothing to do with the sky box, some tvs are like that, mine is.
