I've answered a similar question like this in the past.

Scientists theorize that there are methane vents in the Atlantic ocean in the Bermuda Triange. Methane mixed with salt water causes the water to become less bouyant. Thus causing any ships that pass overhead to sink without a trace.

Large deposits of methane in the atmosphere can also interfere with navigational equipment on airplanes. This would explain why they would go down too.

Would I like to go there? Sure, why not. It would be neat to witness the effects of science firsthand.
