I AM an old person, 59, and a grandma of three. i think I can be stylish and still look my age. I don't dye my hair yet but if I feel the need, I will. How many younger people do you know that have changed the color of their hair on a whim? it sure doesn't always look so hot either!
I agree with the tight jeans, though., No one wants to see old and flabby in tight jeans. Or short skirts or shorts. Or, gasp, sleevelees tops. That is THE worst. Showing skin that looks like chicken skin. Yuck.
I also hate seeing young girls in too tight jeans that drag on the ground and expose too flabby bellies and rolls of fat around the middle.
My point being, it doesn't really matter so much what your age is. Lots of ages have lots of looks that can have a great big "what the hell" as a reply to them.
And if the grandma or the girl with her belly hanging out are comfy then what the hey! Go for it! I can always look the other way if it bothers me.
And, also remember, unless you are Dorian Gray, someday you, too, will be in that position.
PS I prefer hockey jerseys and athletic pants myself. :o)

I think that they, like anyone else, want to look their best -- or at least look a way that they feel looks good, or presents their character best. I'm okay with the tight-jeans-wearing grandmas... if I can wear tight jeans at their age, I'd do it, too! Plus, I think that you reach a point in life where, you stop caring so much about what others think of you and you just wear what you want to wear... regardless.

Yeah. Grandmas should dress their age to some degree. But, they don't have to dress too nerdy, most of them do it themselves. But i have to agree, if my Grandma walked out the door wearing pumps and tight low -rider jeans I'd flip. Oh, I used have an old math teacher with yellow teeth, we learned she died her hair purple when she was a teen!It was so funny! And now her hair is a fluorescent orange/red.

Regardless of them dressing what society feels is appropriate for their age. As long as it's tasteful then all the power to them.
I like to see older women and men appreciate the finer things and that includes trying to make themselves look younger by dying their hair and driving fun cars.
What I don't like is the people who resolve that they are old and start driving Buicks like it's in some old persons manual (Nothing bad about Buicks, I actually have one and I'm only 30... sniff) and start wearing moo moos and such. Good grief, might as well bury them now.

Yeah I think so when I was outside I saw an older woman with a shirt of a rock band and it was really tight on her and she had really tight jeans and earings that I could fit my head through!

Sometimes people try to recapture thier younger years. This is thier way of doing that. They may not see it as a turn off, but rather escapism. You should indulge them in thier tastes and relish the time you have with them, after all its only packaging.

You should be happy in whatever you wear. Some older folks just don't age very gracefully and are fighting it every step of the way.

Not really - we think the way we used to when we were young. But when we look in the mirror we look old. We want to look how we feel.

Old people don't always feel old on the inside. Good for them not dressing how people "think" they should dress!
