I had a dead end job in a shoe factory. My pay was$ 90.00 a week . This was in the late 60s. I was married & raising a family. I was in debt up to my ears. My Grandfather died in "71 & left me $90,000. After paying my bills (about $22,000 ) I started my own shoe repair business. I worked about 75 hr. a week . After 4 years I was able to hire 16 of the best workers you could get.I now own 4 repair shops & a lumber yard. I employee 131 people including 11 of the ones who started with me I have a payroll of $ 1,000,900, My people are happy with me & i feel the same about them.

I kind of fell into mine a couple of months ago. I have always been in business, but it wasn't until a couple of months ago, the right opportunity presented itself. I was obese and didn't have any energy. A friend called about a weight loss system and an energy drink that I needed to take. In order to appease her, I got online and ordered it and started taking it.

The results are that I have lost 33.5 pounds since July 15, 2006 and I have more energy than I have had in decades.

I knew the products worked and so I began marketing them at the beginning of August, 2006. In a little over 2 months, I have made several hundred and the future is looking better.

As far as requisite knowledge, I didn't know anything about energy drinks or how to lose weight. I knew I had tried several other systems and plans to no avail.

I hope this helps. If you want to peruse my energy drink business, there are a couple of web sites:

If I can be of further assistance, let me know.

As a disabled person, finding work was something that was hard because so much of it means you have to be able to work with people and in meetings or talking on the phone a lot etc. Some of the jobs I tried for that I was definitely qualified for because of my fast typing skills and intellect, they would always hire someone else ....simply because they could hear. I also have spinal diseases that prevents me from being able to stand for long periods of time. So I had to find something that I knew I could do.
So I started venturing out on my own, thinking of other ways to make money from the comfort of my own home. Getting into books, checking out businesses.. tried a few of them too! I have big dreams, and one of them is to get off government assistance and make money on my own without worrying about them saying what I can or can't make.
There's no requisite knowledge that you'd need to start your own home business. The one thing you do want to do is look into any business using the BBB (better business bureau) to check out legitimacy, ratings, complaints etc.
Networking is a great way to earn money working from your own home as your own boss. Ever heard of Robert Kiyosaki Rich Dad Poor Dad? He has another book called "The Business School" and he talks a lot about network marketing strategies and getting on the right side of the cash flow quadrant. That's what I did when I started my own business at http://www.mywayoutonline.com/ access code 108306 that is a new division of a billion-dollar international company that is listed on the New York Stock exchange. If you have a big enough dream, you can achieve anything :)
You asked about my industry.. Ever heard of Photomax? It's a new industry siding with NuSkin, Pharmanex and Nourish The Children. I believe in their products and I can't begin to tell you what those products have done for me. Watch the presentation..it's amazing....nothing like you've ever seen before. It attracted me from the very start. Many will promise things... some are scams... this one is honest right from the start. Tells you what to expect and how to expect it. You get a lot of training one on one and group trainings. Any other business I've tried was nothing compared to this. Training and people wise.
Good luck on your endeavor!

My husband and I bought a car rental franchise. We both came from different backgrounds unrelated to this business but business experienc e. My husband had an interest in cars. We made a good living for 14 years then sold it. You should get to know the business and industry before setting out. It is a tough jungle out there.

Started as an independent sales rep and learned a lot from working with small mom & pop shop owners. Plus I did TONS of reading and listing to motivational stuff.

The biggest part is just DOING SOMETHING! That is 95% of the battle. You gotta take action and then roll with the punches. Good Luck! Keep in touch.
