In most of the scenarios yes.
Actually it all depends on how are you looking at things.
Today's generation is such that they want everything as early as possible, which is doing injustice to the ownself.
If you are clever enough, keep a cool head, let the other person throw up all his frustration and when he's done apologize.
Don't make it look like an EGO issue.

Christ's love, Buddha's Dhamma, Gandhiji's non-violence are wrong usage. Those things were there in the world ever as power to the strong willed. World is in a complex flex. Violence, non-violence, neither violence nor non-violence are situations which always existed. We should not see non-violence as getting rid of violence. It is the ability to see the conflict the way it is without much judgement about it. After seeing, understanding our animal instinct to respond to certain situations. Then asking the mind and the body chemicals to behave properly without over production of adrenalin to "fight or flight" but be there with patience with adrenalin high for a purpose. Till the time we are comfortable with our middle class life style, we may not feel the need of making the other person aware about his wrong doing without hurting his ego. Hurting ego is also violence. We are using that in our daily life a mixture of all in varience with our different relations as a part of our nature. But, if the individual's evolution from animal instinct to pure Buddha will be possible onle when he become alert on whatever he do including breathing. From that complete awareness, non-voilence arises and ultimately if a large number of people are able to reach that stage, that society will be able to see violent people with compassion and violent/greedy people as "sick" and will send "get well soon" cards. Love, non-violence etc are included in the Dhamma. Dhamma is as old as our civilisation. Christs, Buddhas and Gandhijis will keep happening through Dhamma. Dhamma is applicable at all times. It will solve and cure all individual and social diseases.

When the problem is with your child or wife, will you approach Police or Guundaas? Of course, there are such great people also who follow violent methods. But Gandhi ji was not so great. Gandhi Ji felt even the British also as his family members. Hence he followed Truth and Non-violence and asked us to follow. For him the entire world is his family. So he followed soft methods. He punished himself. So he is only a Mahaatmaa.

Frankly, i don't believe it is applicable anymore unless you have a really stong willpower, great determination and loads of patience. Most people these days are selfish, voilent and intent on personal gain. I don't think they'll give a damn to others around them. But if you have the determination and will, you are sure to be able to achieve something. Actually, i believe the result of following non-violent methods will vary from person to person and situation to situation.

great movie first of all. second, those ideologies are timeless, they withstand the test of time. those ideologies still hold true even in this day and age of nuclear world. In the nuclear world, the enemy is war itself. His ideologies should be used by U.S to deal with Iran and the nuclear situation and therer shall be a peaceful solution
Enjoy!!!

It dosen't work with everybody, Voilence and Self Defence are two different things, At times everyone needs to stand for themselves. I'm not say it dosen't work at all, it differs from person to person.
For example if someone slaps you I don't mean you give them a slap in return, but, you also cannot turn the other cheek you Should stop it before it comes to you.
