here's some ideas: bo-peep a fairy a marionette doll (with the red circle cheeks, curled hair, a flouncy dress, vivid eyelashes and strings attached of course) a facebook/myspace page (use cardboard) someone from a certain time period 50s,60s,70s,80s(very fun!) or from medieval/rennaissance commonly known fictional charachter or a fairytale character-Rapunzel, etc. This one is pretty cheesy but one of you could string small ceral boxes on a piece of rope then stick forks thru the boxes and wear it around your neck (hence THE CEREAL Killer)get it?? Yeah that one might be to "gay" for you (since 13yr olds who do matching costumes are) but its just a suggestion.

If you like humor you could be a whoopee cushion. Last year for a Halloween costume I was a hobo. I got some really big overalls from the goodwill store, then I sewed patches a cut the pants, they actually looked like hobo pants!!! I threw on a ugly tshirt under it. Then I went outside and got a big stick and tied piece of cloth around the top!!!

it really depends on what type of costume you want (scary, goofy, or glamourous) but try dressing up with old clothes that belonged to your mom , dad or an older sibling. You could go as an 80's chick (leggings, colorful clothes, skirt), or maybe a school girl (pigtails, plaid shirt, knee socks), or maybe even be a guy for halloween like a whole bunch of girls in my grade did. (we're all around your age) It was goofy but a big hit!

80's punk. Get some fishnet stockings and lots of hairgel for a spike and some spray on hair color.

Spa princess (make it your statement against girly girls LOL)

There's also things like black-eyed P - paint you eye black and pin a *P* on your shirt. or Babysitter: Strap a doll to your rear-end and sit on it. or Leaf Blower: Wear a baseball cap with a leaf dangling down in front of your face. When someone asks what you are, blow on the leaf. or Deviled Egg: Dress in all white and paint or attach a yellow circle to your stomach. Then wear devil horns and carry a pitchfork.
Here's a site for homemade costumes including homemade make-up http://www.robinsfyi.com/holidays/halloween/costumes.htm#makeup
Enjoy!

There's lots of stuff to make out of a box - just cut holes for arms, legs and head. You could be a box of cereal (or anything else), a remote control, a dice, a cell phone, etc. Also a good one is a clear trash bag filled with a ballooons, use purple to be a bunch of grapes or multi-colored to be a bag of jelly beans!

I did a costume for a friend one year that was a spider web. Black pants, shoes, shirt. The spiderweb stuff that you get at the store to decorate with.,Black face with white spider web drawn on with make-up or white face with black spider web. I did the white with black spider over the eye with red on eye lid and then glow in the dark glitter tracing the web. turned out pretty cool. Use spray adhesive to keep the web on or heavy duty spray starch..
good luck and have fun.
