cos its the ultimate fantasy - every kid wishes that they could just magic up their enemies into a frog (or a ferret as the case may be) and all adults remember when they USED (or, for some, still do) to want to do that.
why so big here? because its quintessentially english! based in england, uses national stereotypes and humour, all english actors in the film, english author, english spellings and nouns.....people from england can actually relate to it

Because over here the books where dead big she sold millions. So loads of Harry Potter fans went to see the film. Most of them did actually say that it wasnt as good as the books. But those people who didnt like the books and never was interested in them liked the film. So really mixed feelings. And yes all actors are british in it. Its just a good film for anyone you dont have to be young 'everyone belived in magic no matter how old they are' well thats what Emma Watson said. I personally arent a mad fan I have seen all four film but I wouldnt queue to go and see it first if you get me. So basically its just because its all british and all over the place whereas in the states it might not be. When the films are out here everything is harry potter mad especially when the first one was out. Also you americans above saying its crap....I do wonder if you would say that if it was an American Film.

Hi there,
Check here http://j.mp/1m5YaMg if you want to get for free: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
With this link you can get the full version completely free.
This game sequel is somewhat closer to the story on book rather than on the movie. However, there are still some features which are specifically designed for this game.
It's the best game of its category.

I think the UK adults like to play "spot the TV actor/actress", as for the UK kids the films are at least from books which are read by thousands of young children who have torn themselves from PS2 and McDonalds long enough to realise that there is something to books afterall. At the end of the day, it's a case of being patriotic regarding the films.

Harry Potter is world renown...I know many MANY people in the US that go crazy over it. Here in the UK is where everything is happening! I appreciate it because I love the books, not because of where she is from.

Because the books are well written and entertaining.

When Warner Bros bought the rights to make the films they wanted to transfer the story to midwest America. The author,JK Rowling refused.
One of the basis of the story is ancient magic and as the US has no history(200 years is nothing)basing it in the US would have been ludicrous

The reason for Harry Potters success here in Britain is the fantasy thing..it takes us away from the atrocious fantasy rubbish we get fed over here from America in the guise of drama/comedy. British films and television are the best in the world.

Ummm...Harry Potter not a big deal in the States??? What are you kidding me? Did I not see tons of adults and kids dressed up waiting in line when Goblet of Fire (movie) came out? They did the same waiting in line for "Half Blood Prince"! It's like Star Wars...lol

Harry potter is so BIG in the UK because theres a chip shop right near his house, plus just outside Hogwarts in that scary forest theres a takeaway place, all you can eat, hence he's big. He's tried many a time to loose his excess tires but they just aint shifting, hes adicted to that all you can eat.
