Yes, very, very common. If you are over 18 take ibuprofen. Take 800 milligrams. Usually over the counter ones are 200 mg. a piece so take four of those. That is prescription strength and it will do wonders for your cramps. Make sure you eat something first though.

Yes!! I get cramps in my lower back, so does my mother and sister. Some women will get cramps in their stomachs as well, which I also get. Some lucky women do not get any cramps at all. I find that if I curl into a fetal position, it doesn't ache as much. Also, yoga, can help as well.

I get regular cramps in my lower stomach, but my lower back hurts like hell too. Plus, my aunt experiences the same as well. Take some Excedrin and rest; this is normal.

Yes. Completely normal. Believe it or not, many women also feel labor pains in their backs instead the front.

Yes, PMS can cause lower back pain, pain the kidneys, headaches, etc... just be happy your abdomen doesn't hurt... cuz it's the worst.
Oh, and don't OD on pain medication like one person suggested... just take the recommended amount. And take body size into consideration. I only take 1 Advil instead of 2 like they recommend and it's fine for me (I have a small frame.)

oh yes. the back and abdomen are very close and many times, if you feel pain in your stomach area, you'll feel it in your back and visa verse. Even in your case, cramps can occur solely in your back.
That's why some women have "back labor" while others just feel their contractions up front.
Not to be gross, but if I have diarrhea, I feel major pain in my back, even though it is my stomach that is really suffering.
