It sounds like the fan is hitting the sides of it's encasement; gets very loud. It has also been known to "freeze up" and the fan doesn't move and temperature stopped being cool. My only rememedy is to turn it off for a few hours-unplug it. Then I put it back on and it's fine for a month or so. Brand Avanti, about 1+ cubic foot, no freezer compartment.

We had the same problem with our fridge. It needed more free-on. I am not spelling it right. If the fridge is worth the repair then fine. If not, you are better off buying a new one because repair costs are mostly labor.

Check around the fan blades. Once I had a piece of Styrofoam get stuck and the fan wouldn't run. Probably just something hitting the blades. Should be easy to fix.
