I am just about 5-10 lbs over weight. I do have thyroid disease which is why I gained the weight in the first place and now that is controlled by medication and I have lost 25 lbs since I found out. I have gained a little back but not much because I just went through a bad time but now I'm better and I'm getting back to my good routine of exercising and watching what I eat. But I have trouble breathing, it feels like I can't get enough air no matter how hard I try. I have to work hard to breath. I told my doctor when he was doing tests to find out if I had Thyroid disease and he said that it was probably my Thyroid that was causing it but it hasn't gotten any better its gotten worse. Could it be because of the extra weight?

Well, I think you need to go back to that doctor and slap him upside of the head for not doing any tests on your heart! Having difficulty breathing could be caused by any amount of conditions, chief of which is pleurisy. Go back to him, and ask him to follow up on your breathing problems.

No it can't be. 5-10 lbs overweight means nothing. Absolutely nothing.

It is probably from your thyroid disease, but I can only truthfully say that I know that it isn't because of the extra weight.

It could be. if you put 5-10lbs in a rucksack and carried it around with you all day long your body (& lungs) would have to work harder to get enough oxygen. Losing the weight would help but I'd get a second opinion from another doctor as you don't sound convinced with his explanation
