Even strict sanctions run the risk of provoking a war, but the world has been left with little choice, unless it wants to tolerate a nuclear-armed North Korea who very likely will give the technology and data associated with a successful test to Iran. In the end, the best solution may be to cut off the humanitarian aid (food) shipments to North Korea and wait for the revolt or military coup to take place. The country is literally falling apart from within, and its people are starving.

It probably won't work. North Korea is already under very tough sanctions. The remaining things left to sanction are energy and food. If those are sanctioned then large numbers of North Korean people will die of starvation, but the people in the higher military positions will not likely suffer.

They already have the atomic bomb, there is little that can be done to disarm them.

It's not needed. Just because North Korea has a bomb, which everyone already knew about anyway, it's not going to improve North Korea's economy. Their system isn't working. Their people are starving already. Building that bomb was a complete waste of the country's resources.
What do you think they are going to do with it? Launch a nuclear attack on the U.S. to get food? Attack South Korea for food?
All we need to do is wait them out. The country will collapse soon on its own.

we've sanctions on them they do no longer care. they are afraid as they open up and have extra commerce and outdoors investment in North Korea the regime will crumple from interior of they care much less with regards to the exterior international.

sanctions and appeasement didnt work, (just look at the 90's when Clinton gave them 2 nuclear reactors), its time to start nuking them from orbit. make America Strong again. we dont need to invade, just nuke, and let our atoms do the work.... this means no other country will be messing with us, cuz they know they will get the stick, not the carrot. (appeasement)
We gave iraq the stick and all of a sudden libya came clean with their programs.

dennis- i know you are a liberal troll and everything, but I know youre smart enough to know that the koran is written in a non english script, a script that doesnt use "k" or "Q" right? it can go either way when you transliterate it.
القران

You remind me of a retarded kid saying "no you dont spell hannakah with a "C"!

Never a good idea to go to the UN for help. The US needs to be out of the UN and the UN needs to be out of the US.

They're already cut off from the entrire world, what are sanctions going to do.

Remember we sanctioned Saddam until we were blue in the face, but we still went to war with him.

yeah, the UN will send Kim Jong a strongly worded letter. That’ll show ‘em

2006-10-09 08:43:34 · answer #9 · answered by Celt 3 · 2 0

The UN is irrelevant. Crazy Kim tested the nuke because he knows the UN can't or won't do anything. The UN has never done anything constructive and never will.
