Hi, i was just curious. This is my first pregnancy and it has went smooth. But in my lower stomach area I get these flutters, nerve twitches, bubbles bursting, I think that is the only way to explain it but is that the baby? Sometimes if I lie in a position that is ackward I get a harder persistent thumping. Is that the baby?

Could be! Most mom's say they don't really feel baby movements until well after 20 weeks. Some say before that it could just be gas.......Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

Oh baby baby, thats the baby. i started to feel my daughter around the same time and when I went to the doctors and brought it up he told me that because of how tiny I was that it could indeed be the baby. I weighed 120 lbs at that time. I am now 32 weeks and am being kicked on a regular basis. Congrats on your baby and enjoy!

o yes, my dear! those feelings are most definently the baby. i felt the very same things at 16 weeks, actually probably earlier than that and it was indeed my baby boy. he is very active right now and i am 33 weeks. sounds to me like your baby may be pretty active too if you're already feeling those movements. most women especially with their first pregnancy won't start feeling anything until about 18 to 23 weeks or so. well atleast that's what i've read.

definitely sounds like your baby moving. Around 4 months is normally when this is felt for the 1st time. Fluttering, like butterflies are exactly how it feels. Once you feel them a little stronger its fun to sit or lay still, lift your shirt and watch your belly move. Then just wait till your about 8 months and he or she stretches out !

of course it is. Its called "Quickening" which means the baby is moving. And you are about far enough along for this to start happening. I am 12-14 weeks and have not experienced this yet. Congrats and enjoy.

Oh it's the baby! Sometimes when you feel the baby moving it will make you nauseated. People will often say that it feels like a butterfly kiss inside your belly. To me it feels like a worm swimming around in there.

It sounds like its your baby moving around... Congratulations... Enjoy those feelings now - later on when the baby is bigger, you'll be wanting him/her to keep still!

Best of Luck with your Pregnancy and your up coming birth

it could be gas...seriously..pregnant women get really gasy...

i had a similar experience, it felt like my son was making a jerking feeling in my belly...he wasnt moving because you can usually tell the difference between moving and something else...so i went out and bought one of those belly monitor things and used my stethoscope...he was hickuping...it was cute...you should see him now, when he has the hickups, his whole body goes into it...
