I have a dell inspiron which picks up several wifi connections - it uses intel pro/wireless 220bg card. My older 2 computers however are only picking up one connection - the strongest. Both are b / g enabled

So I wish to replace my wireless cards with one similar to my dell Intel card. how do I pick them so they will work just as well? Are there some brands that are better then others?

hey, no need to pass judgment as to why I need to connect to several networks. I could just be trying to share my connection with someone.

I would recommend getting a signal booster or indoor antenna instead of replacing the cards ... you can get these for around $50 and up, and it will do more for you than replacing the cards.

And vice ... my attitude is, if someone isn't smart enough, or chooses not to, password and encrypt their wireless network, then it's available for use.

Also, there are communities and areas where there ARE free wireless networks .. by design, not default ... and if you are able to pick up the signal through having a signal booster, all the better.

So you are basically stealing internet from your neighbors. Just get a signal replicator. Just put it anywhere in your house and it should give you a stronger signal strength. You can go to newegg and look for them. It should run u about 40 bucks. But it beats paying for internet every month.

the card has nothing to do with the signal strength...replacing them would be pretty much useless since they do work....you should maybe get wireless service of your own
