Sometimes I read it while I am working. I work for a big company. Is somebody controlling the internet usage at work?

Sure it's possible, also when you post stuff! If they want to they can check the sites you visited, I just am not familiar with how! It's how people got caught looking at porn, not that this is but the same way probably can be used!

Sunshine!! this is your Boss... we all know what you have been doing.. now get back to work or your fired!!

Haha.. did it make you look over your shoulder? Well just about any BIG company knows exactly what you do on your PC, but unless you are searching for porn or trip the parental controls, then most are pretty understanding. If you are in a productivity position then too much time on-line will show you can not possibly be performing like you should. Good luck and know "The truth is out-there" The Matrix has you Sunshine... follow the rabbit.. haha ;-)

i don't know for sure about your company but my husband works for the State and they have people that their job is specifically to monitor internet usage of all the employees that work for the state. they get in big trouble if they are caught on the internet for any reason other than work purposes.

i think they can even tell exactly what you've been looking at......kinda scary huh?

Chances are that someone is monitering internet usage where you work. You should be Ok if you only do this once in a while. They will not start really looking at what you do unless they have reason to believe you are doing somthing wrong.

They could have a net nanny certainly, though I would have thought that your comapny policy as to staff usage of the net would have been made clear to you by now. If not perhaps you should find that out before you get a verbal warning from your boss.

See you soon.

in large companies, yes there is probably somebody monitoring all internet traffic - in addition to this, you will have a section/department that deal with your pcs, and they will be able to access individual machines to see what internet usage has been done on them -

REMEMBER - big brother is always watching you.

Yes they can track who reads what, both legally and technically. Check you AUP. For many companies, this equates to "don't take the mick", but for some it is "If you don't spend every minute working, that's like stealing from the company". So be warned.

It is very possible your employer monitors internet usage. Does the name "WebSense" sound familiar? Do you know of a specific internet usage policy with your employer?

Most big companies WILL monitor outgoing and ingoing information which includes where you go online and even your emails. Leave stuff you don't want your boss to see for the home computer!
