What are the challenges you have experiences regarding the use of fractions?Explain.

Dividing a pie or cake into sections so everyone can have an equal piece.
Splitting up the cost of a holiday or other purchase between a group of people. Example family A pays for 5 people, Family B pays for 7 people, so they pay 5/12 and 7/12 of the cost respectively.

Cooking/Baking is a big place where fractions come into play. Especially if you need to double the recipe, you would need to know that 3/4 times 2 is 6/4 or 1 1/2. I also use it at work, I slice deli meat and cheese-I need to know that 1/4 pound is .25 and so on. The do come very handy!

Fractions and/or percentages come up all the time in shopping (calculating $$ off on sales that are 1/2 off is an easy one) and leaving tips in restaurants.

Fractions come up a lot in cooking/baking as previously answered. Also in construction with measuring lengths for proper cuts of materials.

fractions? none. i use decimals for money but never fractions.

maybe people who cook use fractions? 1/4 cup, etc? i don't cook at all.
