no.Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... so if you are having a shortened cycle one month and you have sex right after your period and you ovulate earlier than day 14 than yes, there is a chance of getting pregnant. However, it will not be during your period. Many people think it’s possible because they do not completely understand how conception works. It might not happen right at the moment of intercourse since the sperm can live for days! If your cycle is short and you ovulate earlier than day 14 it can SEEM like conception takes place during your period...They only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

It isn't easy but not impossible. It's possible — but highly unlikely. You'd have to have a very short menstrual cycle or an unusual disruption to your cycle. Conception occurs when an egg and sperm meet in a Fallopian tube. Sometime during the middle of your menstrual cycle (most likely between the 12th and 16th days), an egg reaches maturity in one of the two ovaries. The ovary releases the egg into the abdomen, where it's quickly sucked up by the tulip-shaped opening of the nearest Fallopian tube.

An egg can survive in your Fallopian tube for about 24 hours after it's released from the ovary. So the only way you can get pregnant is if sperm are present in your Fallopian tube during this window of opportunity. If the egg isn't fertilized, it's shed along with your uterine lining during your period.

Typically, when you have your period, another egg is developing in preparation for release during the current cycle. But not every woman's cycle length is the same. Many women have a cycle that's about 28 days long, but some have only a 22-day cycle. If you have a shorter cycle, you could ovulate just a few days after you have your period. And considering that sperm can survive in your reproductive tract for up to three days, it's theoretically possible for the sperm to hang around until you ovulate again.

It's also possible to mistake breakthrough bleeding — spotting between your periods — for a regular period. So you may be bleeding right at the time of ovulation, when you're most fertile.

As to my knowledge... no, you cannot get pregnant during your period. Just if you would like to know for future reference: a woman is able to get pregnant only about 48 hours out of an enite month, approx. 14 days after your period and 14 days before your next period. There is a catch though... sperm can live in your for up to 7 days. So, logically you would understand that if you were to have sex about 7 days after your period ended... you can still get pregnant because the sperm will stay alive and attach when you are able to get pregnant. That's how people use the 'rythm method,' but it is NOT a reliable birth control method. Best of luck to you and be careful in the future.

Yes you can. I had a friend who was on the pill and got pregnant, people get pregnant on the shot too. It is a possibility that you can if that happens to be a month with two eggs. I would look at your family history too. If your mother or grandmother got pregnant easily there is a chance you will too. But unless you are trying to get pregnant, just always be safe its not worth the stress. Good luck!

Well dear, for this to happen, the sperm would have to remain active in your body until your next ovulation (normally 14-16 days after the first day of your period)

It is then highly unlikely that you would get pregnant (but not technically impossible)

Knowing this information - women have been avoiding pregnancy for thousands of years.

Yes. Sometimes ovulation can occur before the bleeding from a girl's period has stopped, or it may occur within a few days after her period is over. Sperm can fertilize an egg for several days after ejaculation. So in both cases, having sex before the period is finished can result in pregnancy.

Technically, you cannot, but I have heard of people who got pregnant at the last days of their periods.

As far as i know u cannot get pregnant when ur on period, because u get period only when your ovaries break, so the sperm cannot reach the ovaries.

I had a friend who did. She and her boyfriend were in a long distance relationship and had sex during her period. She gave birth to a daughter 9 months later!
