I don't think you can press charges but just sit down with your son and apologize to him that he had to witness that and explain the situation assuming he is old enough to understand . Let him know that that was not the way he should ever handle things and that fighting is not the answer

You can't press charges because the crime didn't directly happen to you or your son.
The only thing you can do is try to get your brother and/or your stepdad help as far as counseling or other legal help, while keeping your son away from that whole environment, at least until you're sure everything has changed. Even then, I would ease him back by first going with him, and gradually letting him spend more and more time alone there. But first, make sure to sit down and talk to your son about what happened and let him know that violence is not the way to solve problems.
Good luck

Why did your brother beat up your step dad? But it is not your place to press the charges it is your stepdad's. If you did and he did not want you to he would turn against you. Keep your child away from such a dangerous situation.

Good grief...what's up with that???
Is your brother an adult?
Is your son an adult?
Is your brother prone to violence?
Do you have any idea what the fight was about?
Only your stepfather can press charges, I believe, unless your son can as a witness. Good luck.

I hope he did not get hurt very bad. He has to seek out the police to press charges (stepdad). They would ask him who was out and about possibly.

first of all, how old is your son? and second of all, no one can press charges except the person who was victinized. If your child is very young, this can be very tramatic for him. If i were you i would be more concerned about his trama. talk to your son and see how he feels. try to make some sense of it all, then talk to your brother, tell him what happened and that he should talk to your son and explain why he did it
