Practice, practice, practice. I'm left-handed also, and my serve is inconsistent. I don't think it's because of being left-handed, though, it's because I don't play enough and practice enough to improve.

The best thing is to go find a coach who will work with you. He should analyze your serve, and help you correct it. Then practice, practice, practice.

Also, try this - put a couple of ball cans on either side of the court, a few feet in front of the service line. Then practice your serve, aiming for those cans. Don't worry about power, but work on your form. Once you get good form and control, you can add power later. Without control, all the power in the world won't help you. Once you can get the cans consistently, move them around. Try the corners, closer to the net, etc. Then try serving to a particular spot without using the cans as a target. But always strive for control and good form.

Okay I Will try. I am sure you have the eastern grip , if you do not change at once. Throw your toss to the left so that your follow through will bring you center on the add side and a bit right on the deuce, Work your slice to death. Righties even good ones see Roddick hate that serve and you will get some free points. When you go to hit your flat pronate your wrist so that you are almost hitting the left net post. Do not worry your follow through will bring it back. When pronating for the flat think of your left pinky leading the way. Once you get that practice serving down the T as much as out wide. It is a big advantage to have a lefty serve because it is not seen that often. Your second serve toss into your body and have the edge of the raquet hit the top of the bottom of the ball so all the strings touch. Do not change your arm speed. That is when people choke. Practice the placement on this as well. You have a bit of work cut out for you with the practice. If something is going wrong IM or email-me and maybe we can work it out. Good luck

The surest way to improve your serve, whether you're a lefty or righty, is to take PRIVATE tennis lessons from a well-regarded Tennis Instructor.

I'm a lefty too. but that's not any different. make sure your toss is right. if you are serving with a continental grip, its harder. but, just practice and make sure that you are hitting the ball up so it won't go in the net. focus on stroking up, not slamming down
