I think in a way we should be afraid of North Korea. They may be behind in technology; but they "don't really listen to what the world says not to do". So what makes you think they won't nuke someone? It's like a baby. You say - "No, don't do that... but the baby just doesn't understand yet and goes on with it.. I'm just 2 hours away from the DMZ (the border between South and North Korea).... so...... I'm pretty afraid. :)

At the current point in time, N. Korea isn't a direct threat to the US. I think we should be concerned, however, that within the next decade they could either give a nuke to a terrorist organization or acquire missles that could reach the US.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so I think the US, S. Korea, China, and Japan should use military force to resolve this problem now. (Sanctions and other forms or diplomacy are a joke and clearly won't work with Kim Jon Ill)

While they have tested a nuclear device they are a long way from having a nuclear capability.
It will probably be at least 5 years before they are even approaching this. In the meantime sanctions may prevail but, they should be aware that as the sand begins to run out more and more inter-continental missiles will be turned to point in their direction.

Why fear what you are uncertain of?

Let's wait until they say stick em up before we react.

BTW, I have always wondered in all these scenarios of mutual assured destuction what happens to the one where we detonate the missiles in mid air so that they blow up everything in a five mile radius including the other missiles. Aside from the fallout, the other missile should be destroyed over the water.

I know this is a weird subject, not much certainty here, but; I can't help looking at nuclear devices as monuments to our own stupidity, lawn ornaments we wish we had less of.

It's not so much of a problem considering the range of their previous missles...unless you live in Australia, Japan, China, Vietnam, etc. Theres little worry to be concerned about if you're not in that area, plus the rest of the world has been ahead of North Korea for quite some time...

...and when you're feeling even more worried, just think....

...who won the Cold War?

What should we be afraid of?. NK may have nuclear weaponry but their delivery system is a friggin' joke. Some of its missiles plunged into the sea during their missile testing last July. However, if they get lucky, their missiles could reach as far as Hawaii; which in return the U.S. will retaliate with a bloody vengeance raining hundreds of nukes over NK turning it into a giant bomb crater.

They are not a power. They are 100 years behind the rest of the world. The ability to create a nuclear disaster for their own people doens't make them a threat to anyone except those down-wind from them.

Don't worry. George W is the great negotiator with a magnetically pleasing personality. He's probably already making progress - turning another corner - promoting democracy. Just be patient.
