Simple version:

Absolutely. There are good people, and bad people. Governments exist to protect good people. When the system is usurped, and bad people come to power and control a government and use their power to try to hurt more people, it is absolutely justified taking them out.
Example WWII: Hitler comes to power, slaughters Jews, homosexuals, etc., the rest of the world fights back at him and his allies, and deafeats them. Now, all three main players, Germany, Italy, Japan, are all good countries.

Evil people only understand strength. That is the only way to deal with them and it has been proven over and over throughout history. On top of that, appologism and giving in to demands, and compromising with evil leaders only makes them stronger. Also proven over and over and over and over throughout history. Period.

War is only justified when an attack against Our country has been attacked, and PROOF that the attack was actually from that country is made public. We are at war in Iraq, but, there has been no proof that Iraq has ever attacked the U.S., Or its' allies. The war was originally started without the consent of Congress, making it illegal, and the current administration guilty of war crimes, for declaring war on a country that 1). had NO ties with terrorists; 2). Has NO weapons of mass distruction, which, possession thereof is in no way illegal, otherwise the U.S. would be breaking the law; 3). was NOT responsible for the Trade Towers coming down, as Larry A. Silverstein is the guilty party, in conjunction with G.W. Bush, Marvin P. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, and several other high ranking government officials. Did you know that Larry Silverstein had just acquired a 99 year lease, and then insured the Trade Tower complex for over 7 Billion dollars against "terrorist attacks" just weeks prior to 911, and that Building 7 contained the only evidence against the Millionairs responsible for Enron, and WorldCom, to name a couple? Did You know that Marvin P. Bush, G.W. Bush's younger brother was responsible for security in the Trade Towers, as well as Dulles Airport, and American Airlines, all of which figured prominantly in the 911 "attacks"? Please, DO NOT BELIEVE ME!!! BUT, do check out the links below, before you come at me as "unpatriotic" or a "Bush Basher". Prescott Bush, G.W. Bush's grandfather made his money during WWII, by forming a company that laundered, and helped support the Nazi Party, and the proof is out there, in the newspaper archives, if anyone is interested in learning the truth. So, before you come at me, which is by far easier, do a little research yourself. I never ask anyone to believe me, only that they think for themselves, and research what they are talking about before coming to the table, so to speak, for discussions. After, ALL of the links below cant be lying, and some are from MAJOR news media carriers. Have fun!!!

Be well.

I think in the past war was more easily justified. The gains more obviously exceeded the costs. Now I think it's a very dangerous distraction. If we keep killing each other for resources, religious beliefs, or anything else our attention will be drawn away from the very real and grave challenges that face our species: overpopulation, economic inequities, ignorance, environmental degradation, etc. In short, I feel like Rodney King. Can't we all just get along?

I don't think anyone would disagree that WWII was just, from the Allies' point of view. Enough said.
