Ok i can answer this! hehe anyways...

There were 5 main causes of World War One.

Assisnation, which you pretty much already know. Archduke Franz Ferdinand (not the band:P) was assinated by a member of the Black Hand (a terrorist organization against Austrian Rule.). The guy who assasinated him was named Gavrilo Princip.

Nationalism. Bosnians and Serbians were very nationalistic, and the Bosnians(Serbs that were living in Bosnia at the time) wanted to seperate from Austris-Hungary and join Serbia.

Militarism. Britain had a strong military, and navy. It was possibly the strongest there was back then. Germany knew this and started to create a navy that could rival Britains. Other countries got suspicious of this and wondered what Germany was up to.

Imperialism. Many countries wanted to acquire land and colonies far away for various reasons. Britain had the largest empire, and other countries wanted colonies for themselves. This was due to industrialism (=more interest in colonies)

And finally, Alliances. In 1914, France and Germany were looking for Alliances. So France joined Britain and Russia = Triple Entente/Allies.
Germany joined with Austris-Hungary and Italy=Triple Alliances/Central Powers.
(Note: Italy left the Triple Alliances to join the Allies, when they thought that Germany would lose.)

Hope that helps!

One underlying cause of the First WW was that countries such as Germany was really quite a new country and had only been unified recently. This meant that in the race for colonies (what Kaiser Wilhelm called 'a place in the sun') was almost over and Germany h& Italy had been non-starters. They felt that they should have some kind of colonial presence to a0 give them status and b) give them trading opportunities. The Kaiser felt particularly pieved about the enormous Brisitsh Empire.
A second under lying reason was the Health of Kaiser Wilhelm II. He was a very sickly child and it seems very likely that he had cerebral palsy, affecting his hand particularly (I'm not sure which one). His father despised him and there is a story of how when he was very small he was put on a horse and fell off 12 times while his father looked on. This gave him an inferiority complex and so proving that Germany was one of the greatest countries became very important to him.
Also the treaty system in Europe at that time meant that as soon as one country in one of the axies became involved then all the others followed like dominoes falling. To be honest the assassination of Franz Ferdinand was not a reson for the IWW just a spark to a powderkeg just waiting to explode.

WWI was caused by the shift in the balance of power among the European states, and by the many alliances that existed. Also, Germany wanted colonies and additional land. When Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, Austria, having an alliance with Germany, looked to Germany for advice and backing. Germany gave it, and issued an ultimatum to Bosnia, which had an alliance with Russia. Germany also had a war plan called the Schliefen Plan which would prevent a war on two fronts and would allow Germany to defeat countries such as France before having to take on Russia.

The assassination of Australia was not the main reason of WW 1, that was only the spark that started the fire(WW 1) . The main reasons that started the big fire is the fuel and one of those reasons where alliances.

What u mentioned is not the main reason for the war, it's actually not important. the real reason for the WW1 was not the assassination of FF, but the fact, that the states involved wanted to gain territories.
