Hello gazcaz,

Regarding nail infections, don't underestimate the problem! One must realise that nail diseases are in a separate category from diseases of the skin:

"And nail conditions that show signs of infection or inflammation require medical assistance and cannot be treated at a beauty parlor."

Act carefully, and ... why not consult your general practitioner?

Best wishes!

In spite of what anyone may tell you, or what any product label says, the only way to get rid of it is through a prescription anti-fungal medication. You will need to have your blood checked every 30 days to make sure the medication is not damaging your liver.

Some over-the-counter products imply on their packaging that they will cure nail fungus. Some even show before and after pictures. However, if you read the fine print, it states that it will not treat nail fungus. It's a bit of a lie - they imply that it works, then they state (in fine print) that it doesn't. Most of them are the same active ingredient that you'd find in jock-itch spray.

Go to the dermatologist and he/she will prescribe a medication that works.

Go to your doctor. There are over the counter remedy's but they don't work as well if its very severe. They can give you an oral medication that will get rid of it. If left untreated it could get worse and spread to other nails. Leave it to the pros get to the doctor and get it treated. Besides the cost of treating it yourself isn't cheap especially if you have to repeat it so might as well get it treated right the first time. Good Luck.
