She either dislikes you, or likes you, and neither is real good in a boss of the opposite sex.

I believe your female boss wants you to feel comfortable at work... to become a part of the "team". Maybe she sees you like a shy person who only wants to do his job -- to focus on his job alone. She probably wants you to be open, too, not only to herself as your boss but to you co-workers as well. You might want to show her some little changes in your attitude; like, for example, if you see her say, "good morning, Ma'am... nice weather today, huh?"... and with a smile, of course. Anyone can be pleased with that simple greeting. Try it.

I believe I would ask what it is she wants to talk about? I would do this politely, and actually wanting to know? There are ways to put people in an uncomfortable position without leaving a trace of doing so. By placing the responsibility of her talking to you upon her, and her own needs [regardless what those might be] you cannot be accused of being disrespectful or doing something that can be cited.

You're doing the right thing. Why go to her unless you need too?? Sounds to me like SHE"S the one with the "attitude"".
