Half of the answers are not even answers. they are comments that does not address tha question. If someone say pick EITHER OR that means one or the other. But people will say they want a little of both or something else entirely. Others just make some vague gesture or wisecrack because they don't have a glue and are simply mining points. Part of that is the flaw in which YA has made by simply making the de facto goal, point collection. If the amount of points were related on how well your answer was rated, then it would not be as appealing to simple "give an answer" If it were structure that you would be penalized points for answers rated as poor maybe people would find it not worth answering question they can not reap a high point count from.

Because they are merely grabbing for points. YA has been trying to crack down on this, but there is still a long ways to go.

Because people hate making decisions, and thinking too much about something. We just don't want to think too much...
For example: Ask me where I want to go and eat? "I don't really care, I'll eat just about anything, you go ahead and pick a place."
