not so many super skinny waists, with artificial breasts, like today,

Yes.
She was very pretty at one time then she was beautifully and was even stunningly beautiful in her old age.
Most of the time she played very difficult rolls, of a villeins and it is the tendency for the industry to make them look less attractive then the Hero or a Heroin, if need be by the use of make up. So she had lots of touch up, also her character in the movies, made her make many ugly and angry faces, which conveyed and portrait, the ugliness of the character. In her time very few people saw her on her natural setting, and carried ugly image of her in their mind for ever and time to come when they see the reruns.
She would be always remembered as one of the greatest movie actress. Those who knew/ know her personally as more beautifully woman.

Bette Davis had a unique look about her. I truly believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is pretty to me may not necessarily be pretty to you. I think she was pretty.

I don't think so. She had very unique eyes (bulging, if you ask me). I guess that's what made her popular. But other than that, I do not think she was pretty.
