The Finkelstiens are a new band in town, and are determined to take over today's thriving rock market. If you have yet to come across this pop/rock outfit, its time to rub the sleep out of your eyes! This young energetic trio has taken the country by storm with the release of their debut single "QQ Me" and the accompanying video, screened on MNET's Sound-Check and across the DSTV channels as well as SABC 1, SABC3 and E TV. The song has charted and is climbing up every youth orientated chart in S.A and has also been featured on The World Chart Express on MTV Europe, a rare privilege for a South African band
Comprised of Ghomez, Worm and Wang, The Finks produce shows that are nothing less than sheer entertainment and will have your eyes glued to the stage while uncontrollably jumping around to the melodic catchy riffs and contagious lyrics. Their debut album, titled 'The Dawning Of New Error', is their first full contribution to the South African music scene and has spawned 4 top 20 singles and looks set to establish The Finks as one of the top acts in the country.

THE FINKELSTIENS (aka: THE FINKS) from P.E. South Africa (a bit of background info) Playing their first gig in March 2001, Wang -vocals/guitar, Worm -bass/vocals and Ghomez -drums, now aged 20, 20 and 22, respectively, decided to morph their individual styles and united vision into what they call “The Finkelstiens“… Subsequently recording a 3 track E.P. at Paris Studios in Cape Town, and independently releasing it in September 2001, selling over 1000 copies of “Is that a golf ball or did your face just go shopping?” to date. The Finks have been described as a tight, energetic, melodic, fast paced rock outfit with modern influences such as Alien Ant Farm, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Green Day, as well as The Police and The Beatles. “There is more to our shows than just playing music and our regular crowd has learnt to expect plenty of comedy and enough fun and games for the whole family. We try to play to both under 18’s and adults,” .

Currently, their prime audience spans from the age of 13 to 30, including skaters, surfers and anyone who enjoys a tight, catchy and energetic act. They have, however, encountered on more than one occasion, many youngsters’ parents coming to them and saying that they enjoyed the show as much or even more than their kids did. Using their E.P. as a springboard, they have promoted themselves throughout South Africa. The singles “Find It’s You” and “Asong” feature on three South African compilations, the former appearing on “Burn Rock Machine”(2002) and the latter on “Wicked Rock”(2003), and SL Magazine’s Selection (March 2003). In February 2002 they released their debut full-length music video for “Asong”. The single is playlisted on KZN station East Coast Radio, while ‘Find It’s You’ and ‘Asong’ were playlisted on Barney Simon’s Night Zoo as well as numerous campus radio stations around the country. They have also received daytime airplay on 5fm’s Fanta World Chart Show as a result of a full promo on The Finks during the three-hour show. The Finks have performed at two consecutive Splashy Fens, The Rock Concerts 2 and 3 at Carnival City and Woodstock 4, while fitting in local festivals such as Noon t’ Noon 2002/03 in P.E. December 2002 saw them on a coastal tour with the Castle Loud Summer Road Show which ended in St. Francis for the 2002 New Years Bash along with Perez and Tweak.

A full-page interview appeared in the July 2002 issue of national youth culture magazine Blunt, which confirmed the band’s rising popularity. The first of two independent national tours (“Its all geek to me” tour – June 02) started in Durban and moved along the east coast and garden route. It included fifteen shows in one month in ten towns/cities while the second leg kicked off in P.E. on 01 August with Perez and comprised of nine shows in Cape Town. The second tour (“The dawning of a new error” tour Nov 02) consisted of much of the same venues as well as the Castle Loud Summer Road Show and St Francis New Years bash.
