I have played and taught music for many years. Stay away from DVD's, Videos, etc. Get one on one instruction. You can only learn so much in an hour a week. Practice is the key.

I assume the fastest way is with a professional one-on-one instructor.

first learn to read tabs, then chords; and then practice at the same time with your guitar and music.
