There are many studies that show that songs can help to learn a language. THere are many songs/CD's made for the language learner. My students find it helpful and you can hear them humming sometimes when they are trying to recall a word.
We sometimes even make up songs if we are having a hard time remembering something. It helps many people, but it does depend on the type of learner you are.
