music remakes: better than the original or best left alone?

I'm finding out everyday seems like that many of my favorite songs are remakes of stuff from the 60's or 70's. then I'm disappointed b/c the artist is just copying something old and many of the times not making an improvement. some song I like better modernized. is it just dependent on what era you grew up in?

I like to freak my kids out...my oldest is 17 and he'll have this song on, and I'll bust out with it. He will swear it's an original, so sorry, it's a remake!

Really I think that it all depends on what the song is that and being remade and who is singing it. For example one that I dislike and think should be left alone is Pink Floyds song the Wall. Korn did a remake of this and I do like Korn but I did not like what they had done to the song. Another example is the Gym Class Heros Girlfriend songs main chorus is a remake of a Led Zeppelin song. I do like this song b/c they have added more to it that the original had. Some songs are better left alone while others can spark up a whole new generation of music

There are have been just a few times that the remakes are a little better, but more time than not, the remakes just suck.

it depends on the song. if it was good, leave it alone. if it could use some improvement or modernazation, be careful cause sometimes it turns out great, sometimes its ugly
