The first answer takes the words right out of my mouth. I also believe it would be insane and very humancentric of us to believe that we are the sole beings of the universe. Maybe some people don't want to admit that because it's scary, due to what hollywood and their imaginations have told them. I do not believe however, all these hillbillies who were "abducted" and all that, their ideals on aliens seem to coincide with the thoughts and images of aliens themselves that are popular at the time. For example, the standard "grey aliens" are what people claim to see now, but before the birth of that stereotype, they were seeing all other kinds of things. Besides, aliens may inhabit a planet and be entirely bacterial or like that, we just think of them as ugly humanoids and that's not as likely.

Of course aliens exist. Remember the fossil from Mars found in a meteorite on the Arctic a few years ago. Thats one the sceptics cant deny.
As for all the sightings, videos, pilots, police, the Belgium government going live on tv around 10 years ago saying there were several very large triangles flying around over Belgium, not to mention the Bible > all the sightings of lights coming down from heaven and people meeting beings on mountain tops covered with cloud that glow with light, people being beamed up etc. lol.
The funny thing is, if you seriously think there are aliens, it means your NOT crazy. To believe we are the only life form in the vast universe IS crazy and paranoid!

Most stories and sightings are made-up for attention, but who knows if there is a life-supporting planet out there? It's a little simple-minded to think that Earth is the only planet capable of supporting life. It's also hard to have good evidence when most people are unaccepting and of the opinion that there is no such thing as aliens.

I think it would be very egocentric of us to assume that we're the only planet which has intelligent life on it, if we can make that claim ourselves. Many, many of the "sightings" can be explained, but there is about 1% which can't. That still doesn't mean that there are actual aliens visiting us, though. I do believe there are alien life forms somewhere in the universe, but I would be happy if that life form was even just a slime mold.

The only answer I can give you is another question: Have you noticed how the number of UFO sightings has dropped since personal video cameras came on the market?
You bring up a great point about our longing to know that we're not alone in the universe. That, of course, is why we had to invent god. Aliens are another form of god -- mysterious, potentially beneficial but always terrifying, and endlessly debatable.

Peer pressure is an awful thing. How many people are willing to be ridiculed, invalidated and have their sanity questioned FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES just so they can share with an unbelieving world their experience?
>
Wouldn't it be great to have company, though!?!! :-)
>
Just remembered! Some remote viewers state that they've observed other life forms on their home planets!

Based on the fact that there are over 200 billion stars in our galazies and billions of galaxies in the universe, there must be aliens out there somewhere. However, because the distance even to the nearest star (3.4 light years or 6 trillion miles) is so vast, it is likely that we will never know.

It is unlikely that we are the only intelligent life forms in the universe, and it neraly as unlikely that any of the UFO sightings are really of extraterrestrial beings. That said, how else can intelligent life be defined except by our human-centric ideas?

well first of all, i do believe that aliens do exist. if they didn't why would they have first announced on radio and in the newpapers that there was a flying saucer found and then all of a sudden they took it back and said, 'oops! it was weather balloon'. i have reason to believe not becuz of what is typed above but becuz i have seen a flying saucer. i was waiting outside a friends house when i looked up and i saw this flying object and it was spinning. i have talked to a friend of mine that's in the military and he spoke to his general and when my friend came back, my friend had no comment.

Just based on the visual knowledge we have of the universe (not even counting the stuff we have no knowledge of), it'd be crazy to assume that we are the only lifeform, since humans aren't even the only lifeform in our solar system.
However, those who believe that aliens have actually visited us here on earth, need some help.
