For some reason the libs don't realize what socialism does.
It would bring down the quality of health care, and its qualified physicians. It would increase the waiting time to see a doctor, since everyone with a runny nose would be at the doctor. It would eventually bring down the advances in medicine, and the number of bright minds going into the medical field.
Why stop at socialized medicine? I want free lunches, free lawn care, free babysitting, free gasoline. Everything should be FREE. When something is free, who pays for it?
Here is a novel idea: Pay for your own crap, including medical treatment.

Your point of view would make most anyone who knows anything about National health care wonder about your sanity. How bout a few facts to consider. Canada's national health care system is one example. It is right across the border, started up under our noses, and it works for their people. Did you know that in Massachusetts alone---they have more administrators and bureaucrats employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield then there are for Canada's countrywide system? Did you know that the U.S. is the only industrialized nation without a national health care system? Did you know that there are over 30 million individuals in the U.S. without any type of health care? Health care costs are killing the companies that employ the middle classes ability to compete. Period. No if, ands or butts. We need a national health care system--yesterday. The only thing stopping it is political will. Pharmeceutical companies have lobbyists up the ying yang fighting the notion on all fronts. They will lose so much money if they have to compete fairly it boggles the mind. Think of it this way. If you have some kind of health problem and you are able to get to the doctor, get it diagnosed, a treatment plan--it's pretty much under control. Instead our system has no rationale to that effect. What happens now is people get sick--they don't have insurance, they get worse and worse from a condition that if caught in the early stages is curable, now their sick as a dog, calling an ambulance and going into financial ruin for the rest of their lives because they can receive treatment, but can't pay the bill. Re-think your philosophy--there is no arguement against nationalized health care--period.

This seems like scare tactics used by libertarians and the AMA.
The federal government manages the interstate highway system. Heard any complaints about that?
They also manage the Military (THEY and their dependents get free medical care.)
You see, there is MONEY for highways and for the Military (Unlimited funds for the Military) Apparently poor people can just rot, and nobody cares (at least not enough people in Congress.)
However, the people in Congress ALL get free medical care (if I'm not mistaken - for life.)
Finally one solution; As one comedian said:
In Canada, when you go to the hospital the Canadian government pays the bill. We should adopt the same system here in the US: You go to the hospital, and the Canadian government pays the bill.... :)

Yes, but for some people who are poor some health care is better than none. I know those who have bad health and bad teeth and get no help. They suffer in silence.
We need to follow the europeans on health care and do it for all.

"public" housing is managed by private companies. Clinton ended the "projects", and switched to a voucher system.
Every major nation on earth has free health care for its citizens, except the USA.
