it is the prerogative of every sovereign country to go for nukes in order to defend it self from the super cop, the USA and its stooges like japan. had Iraq had nukes, the USA would not have dared to invade that country. after all it was Pakistan who supplied technology to north Korea.

Well, if they have successfully tested, it will make Bush think twice before attacking. Remember there has never been an end to the Korean war. This would give Bush a rational for attacking. See, Americans have the idea that the rest of the world trusts them. It doesn't work that way. You have a nutjob as a president who has given out a couple of "Axis of Evil" lists, so it's no wonder those nations want to have a deterrant. And stop bragging about how powerful your nation is, that in itself makes alot of people jittery. Try working with the rest of the world instead of trying to dominate it.

NK has every right in the world to defend itself from threats, real or imagined. The hubaloo is about the other countries feeling the effects another nuclear power that is NOT on their side. Think about it, the reactions of the world are based on perceptions. Who is really right?

Well, it's a good question dear, but I fear that you will get some very radical answers - probably from the very same people who are prepared to believe that the US president was part of the 9/11 plot - yet they will still permit him to have his finger on the nuclear button, whilst not trusting anyone else to have the same abilities.

Please don't get me wrong - I personally think that the 9/11 plot theory is silly - I was just making a point.

Wrong, north Korea is building nuclear bombs to play with the Big Boys and to have the nuclear threat in any negotiation!

1) A nuclear bomb is not a defensive weapon. You cannot hold off attackers by setting off a nuclear bomb on your own homeland because you would do more damage to yourself than the attackers probably would.

2) Everybody is watching everybody else....just watch the movie Wargames. They make a great point that if we all had nukes, and one country launched a nuclear missile, another would launch right afterwards, then another, then another....War isn't a great way to solve disputes to begin with, but nuclear war would be globally devestating.

3) The biggest concern, i believe, isn't that they're making nuclear weapons to defend themselves, but that they're making them to sell to countries who would be using them offensively.

Yeah, but what would N.Korea do with a nuclear weapon anyway. Who are their enemies? If a country is testing a weapon of any sort, it implies that they are planning on using it.
The USA & it's allies were the last nation that N.Korea was at war with, & they still dispute the border that now lies between North & South Korea.

the problem is in north koreas isolation, and to a large part the US's isolation for that mattter.

there are plenty of meat heads who would throw nukes like custard tarts,

since them koreans ain't got no missles to speak of it ain't a problem that we 're going to wake up tomorrow with the air filled with them.

what i does is shake up some of our looser cannons will scream psycho at them (waving their rational nukes) and raise the tempreature in international xenophobic stakes.

North Korea want to make sure they're taken seriously in the international arenas, for this a nuke or two is pretty handy. anyone who doesn't like to listen is gonna be pretty pissed.

That is about stupid.... Why would you build a nuclear bomb to defend yourself from invasion... Its not like you would bomb yourself if someone invaded you!!!
Get a grip will you.
The only reason you would build a nuclear missile today would be to use it against another country. THAT is what we are trying to prevent.
Freakin liberals!!! Pull your head outta your butt and wake the hell up!!!

Peace lover: We all want peace, but realistically Kim Jong IL does not want peace. He wants to play puppet master and control peoples lives. I hope things work out for the best for all of us.
