You won't be "normal" for a year or even two. Your period will come and go, be heavy and light, etc. until your hormones become regular. Just try to be in tune with how your body feels when you are about to start your period, then you can be prepared for it. Also, keep a log of number of days, how the flow fluctuates day to day, when it started and stopped, etc. If you go to the doctor for any reason, take that with you as it will surely help.

When I first started my period, it was very heavy also. I decided to start a birth control pill, to reduce it. This was suggested by my gynecologist. Now that I have had it for 15 years, it has reduced on its own. IF you are really concerned, talk to your gyno, if you have one. If you don't have one yet, have your mom set up an appt for you. Doctor's are there to help. Ask questions!

yup, sounds normal if u've just started having them. if u're soaking the pad, then that's a cause for concern. if u've had periods already & this is the first time this is happened, i'd wait a day or 2 & if it doesn't improve then i'd see the gyno.
