We had just moved into a new home about a month ago, when my wife and i watched as the next door neighbor dug a hole on the wasteground at the back of our communal garden.

we knew from his wife that their dog had recently died so thought that must be what he was up to.

two days ago he was at it again, as soon as it was dusk, donning surgical gloves, he buried something small in a black plastic dustbin bag.

We have both attempted to say hello to this guy but unlike his wife (who we haven't seen for a few days) he's pretty quiet and basically just grunts. so aproaching him isn't really very easy.

any serious suggestions as to what we should do?

If you are serious about all of this, I would be contacting the police and at least letting them know of what is going on. Stranger things have happened!! I would bet he is just burying critters but??? You could also wait til your sure no one is home and dig it up to see what it is but, if it is a crime scene, you could be in some trouble yourself. I guess, it is always better to be safe than sorry. I would let someone know!

This sounds like a movie i've seen starring Tom Hanks. You may be getting a head of yourself if your thinking he killed and buried his wife maybe she's out of town. Have you spoke to the other neighbors about his weird behavior? It could help understand him better put if you really suspect he's up to know good contact the police.

Go and dig up whatever it was he buried and check out for your self what it was. Take further action as neccesary depending on what was buried. Could be evidence of a crime!!! Or maybe something you should know about regarding his personality.

Since it is a "communal" garden,,,, dig up whatever he buried and check it out. It's in "communal" ground.
