Haha, I saw that on ESPN last night dude, and I thought the EXACT thing, what has Lou Pininella done for the Devil Rays in his career? NOTHING!
What has Joe Torre done for the Yankees you might ask?
He has only won over a thousand (1000) games, AND won 4 World Series... If you ask me, they need to look at getting new office managers and maybe new pitching, the LAST person that needs to be blamed is Joe Torre!

If Joe Torre is fired, he should become the manager of the Chicago Cubs, that way the Cubs might win the NL Central Divison and be just 11 games closer to a World Series Championship.

If Lou Piniella becomes the manager of the Yankees, I do not see him bringing them to a World Series while managing Yankees again.

You'd like to think so. Piniella is too much like Larry Bowa. A hot head. Can you imagine what it would be like if both are on the coaching staff of the Yankees next year? Talk about fire works!!!
Joe Girardi might be a better choice. I'm sure he will be the first ever "Manager of the Year" to be fired for a major league team. He has deep Yankee roots as well as Cubs roots. He might not be a bad choice if Joe Torre is fired. Of course Stienbrenner is a jerk no matter how you look at it.

To me, it would be poetic justice if Buck Showalter came back to manage the Yankees now. Really, he is the one responsible for laying the groundwork of the 90's run the Yanks had. And Torre would now be a good guy for the Rangers job. Certainly Pinella would be the most entertaining pick. I do think the Yankees are in need of a manager with spunk of some kind because the clubhouse is TOO laid back. Just like the Braves clubhouse of the late 90'2-early 2000's. The players had all "been there before" but that was leading them to not ramp up the emotion when it was needed. Besides Jeter, everyone else sleepwalked through the Tigers series.

First OFF. KEEP JOE. The guy is a proven winner and He has Been a great manager. Its not his fault that Rodrieguez couldnt hit and RJ, Pavano, Wright are on his team. Cashman picked those sorry guys up.

2 if there is a coach I would be okay with If Joe Decided to retire. I would want Joe Girardi. He's an Ex Yankee and did a great job with a horrid Marlins Team. (NO LOU!) He ran 2 orginazations in the ground. (seattle and tampa bay) Dont mess with the yankee's

I seem to recall a Baseball Manager saying once "There are 24 players and one manager. , the only real choice is get rid of the manager you can't get rid of the whole team.

Well not unless you are the owners of the Florida Marlins then you can try like hell to do it.

I still think that Torre is a good Manager and could be managing if not in NY then somewhere else.

I just read that Pinella is a sort of risk taker when it comes to playoffs. Maybe this is what the Yankees need is a risk taker.

And yes there are others who could manage the Yankees but would they last the year?

It doesn't matter. It all comes down to the players, and it wasn't Joe Torre's fault that the Tigers pitching could beat his hitting. That's how it works. A-Rod deserves a lot of blame for being lousy in the clutch ALL YEAR. His 1-14 performance against Detroit with NO RBI's was typical.

Lou is a great manager and would do well with this ball club...so would Girardi...this Yankee team needs a guy who will light a fire under these guys...I love Joe but his style of coaching and with his mishandling of the bullpen he needs to go...

There are quite a few better choices. Even some inside the Yankees organization.
