flippin the bird means giving the middle finger it is not something poliet to do or should not be done really at all. Mainly people do it when they are very mad I hope this helps.

I heard a phrase like that in one of the best movies ever. TOP GUN. Maverick and Goose are flying upside above the enemy and Goose says "Watch the birdie", (gives them the finger) so to answer your question it means to stick up your middle finger to someone you dislike.

it means you pick up a cockatoo, and toss it head over feet so that it spins in the air and is still able to land on it's feet. If you land it, you get extra points, also bonus points are given for number of flips in the air/difficulty of spin, etc. It's a big game in Australia.
