I'm Native American-Yaqui tribe- and am slightly insulted even by the question. Was it justified? I guess the answer would be yes, if "justification" was defined as theft of property, homeland, lifestyle and genocide by greedy, murdering Europeans devoid of morality. The prejudice of the white man( I use the word MAN intentionally and literally) towards people of color, regarding them as lower than primates is, was and will always be "justification" in their minds to impose their will on people with no means of fighting back effectively. The situation in Iraq is a perfect current example of this. The paradigm that suggests that white Europeans know what is better for people of other colors, creed, and religions is one of convenience, when manuevering for financial and political gain, and proven historically every time the opportunity presents itself.

My viewpoint has been developed through a lifetime of firsthand experience. I am not fully Yaqui, but also Middle Eastern-Syrian, and Irish(yep can't get away from the Euros-LOL), so my experience is unique.

Interesting question for Columbus(slave trader, genocidal murdering degenerate) Day.

Clearly, the United States stole land which belonged to the Native Americans, and used methods such as war, murder, terrorism, and intimimdation to get those lands. It is very hard to find anyone who would say that such techniques are justified in any moral sense.

In a completely amoral sense, you can say that in human history, people have been stealing and murdering each other's land since the beginning of time and it is still going on today, for example in the Sudan. That does not 'justify' the conquest but it puts it in historical terms.
