well it depends what do you want to do. fitness, commercial, print, fashion, etc.
the most popular categories for guys are commercial and print. you are probably too young for fitness.
you will need professional headshots for your book. COMMERCIAL headshots. keep that in mind. don't try to do sexy stuff, commercial agencies don't want that.

you may have to pay around $200-$350 bucks for a professional photographer. if you don't want to pay, you can network and hopefully find a photographer who is building his/her portfolio and will shoot you for free (it is called TFP). good places are onemodelplace.com or modelmayhem.com.

i still recommend you find a professional photographer, if you really think you've got what it takes.
if you think it's a lot of money, consider it as an investment, not an expenditure.

then go to NY agencies with your best photos. there are TONS of agencies in NYC, you are very lucky!!! consider that as a head start already. people would give anything to live where you do!
you can also mail or email our photos. but open calls are good cause they will tell you what you need to work on, etc.

and dont listen to that girl jamie, she's the one who's stupid.
modeling will not corrupt you. just don't drop out from school and go to college. :)
modeling is a job just like any other, and you can do that while you study.

good luck!

If I were you I would google "Long island modeling" or maybe their are modeling agencies in like a 40 mile radius of where you live? But I think googeling "New York modeling" will help you find cities that have oppurtunities, i'm just saying you're going to have to put a lot of effort into it. Even if that means driving 4 hours to have an interview! And I think you should have some professionaly taken photos for a portfolio when you go and get interviewed, or so you can send the photos to agencies to save you time!

Look in the phone book or online for local agencies and see if they have open calls.

Send a headshot (you can take them at home to start) and resume (if you have any experience) to agencies, as many as possible. You can find the addresses online/in the phone book as well.

Be prepared for rejections; it's a tough business to get in to.

Jamie, don't call anyone you don't know stupid!!! You could be hurting someones' feelings. Modeling is his dream; not yours. How would you feel if someone called your fututre career stupid??!! He is not too young to know what he wants to do!!

I hope it works out for you!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Don't be stupid, you are too young and it will corrupt you. grow up a bit then decide what you want to do with your life.
