I've tried and [i][/i], but neither of them work for me.

The proper way to italicize in HTML would be your words

The way u italicize is if you are in wordpad and/or notepad then just go to where it says format at the top of your page and from there go to font and then from there where it says font style press italic and that's how you italicize words on your web site.

you can also try to highlight the words and press "control" and "i" together
it also depends what website you're using...
what host are you working with?
usually and [i] works, and if not, try contacting your web host

Depends if your website is HTML-allowed or bbcode-allowed. If it isn't, there isn't anything you CAN do.
