Oakland gets home-field due to being a division winner, whereas Detroit is the wild card. This is the case even though Detroit has the better record. Doesn't make sense, but that's how MLB does it.

Because Baseball is wrong on this one! Maybe the wildcards shouldn't have home field advantage, but the World Series should be home field for the team with the best record, not the BS with Trevor Overrated Hoffman blowing a save in a game that is a joke and doesn't count giving Home field Advantage to a team hat didn't earn it.
At least this year the four fields that are possable WS game sites are all "pitchers " parks. Earlier this year Shea stadium was called "The last fair ballfield" with it's configuration. Comerica is huge, especially in the alleys, the A's have a big foul ground (pitchers love that, catchers, not so much) and St. Louis I am not as familiar with being the newest of the parks.

Well, if you're a Tigers fan, this might console you:
The Tigers had the best road record in baseball.
The Tigers beat Oakland 5-1 in the regular season.
Kenny Rogers has a 24-4 lifetime record in the A's stadium.
