Im sure this will make some people mad, but I want to express myself and see how other people feel about this topic too. I am in no way racist. My family is filled with mixed races and cultures. But I do get very annoyed with the african amercian culture, with the whole racism topic. "White" people get such a bad rap with racism with other races, like african americans. mainly because of slavery 300 years ago, what I'm trying to get at, is that other races can be very racist against other races also, but it seems like the only race that its such a big deal to is african american. I work in a classroom with 4 "black" people, so i hear about us "whities" alot, people seem to very racist against hispanic people, but its like they dont matter! Sure, 60 years ago, blacks were separated from whites. but is it not unfair now, that they have several black only colleges? Black history month? Black Entertainment Tv? etc. What if there was a White only college, show, month? in 2006 not meaning then

Sure we have CMT, which stands for COUNTRY music television. It just feels like african americans always use slavery as an excuse to get by with things, or to talk racist. "Is it cause im black" "Oh if I was white, that wouldnt have happened" blah blah blah....I think people need to remember that white people or (caucausion) is a race too, and need to be careful with they way they say things about our culture too.its all racism!

I totally agreed with you and I'm not even white! Black people need to stop using the slavery excuses to get certain things in life. They need to learn how to work and climb the ladder like everyone else in America. Good grief, America now filled w/ different races and not just white; have some self respect and dignity and stop hiding behind the "Affirmative Action" law - it's not fair!

Shoot, not to mention billions and billions of taxpayers money are being spent on Wellsfares, foodstamps, WIC, etc...for those lazy black people sitting at home smoking crack and popping out babies. Not to mention half of the crimes are committed by black people. No wonder why other races think so little of you. Hello! wake up from la-la land and realize that you put yourself in such situations.

Dahling...If slavery and Jim Crow never happened and blacks weren't subject to all the bigoted hate we've been subject to since we arrived in America, there wouldn't be all these things your mentioning. So, what you need to think about, instead of BET and Black History Month, is how can we as a society make it so that minorities are equally, or at least close to, represented in the media. Now, i'm pretty sure that BET isn't in place because of slavery. I believe it was implemented some 25 years ago (around 1981) due to the gross misrepresentation of blacks on television. Can you imagine..no you can't...but it's pretty crippling to a person's identity when they can't see positive images of themselves in the media. Only negative images from Cops and whatnot. No one's whining by the the way.

Now, Black History Month was also implemented to help restore/repair all the atrocities that were committed against blacks because of race.

Let's not go so far back as 300 years because, of course, that's ludicrous. Let's talk about the last fifty years. I'm sure you know about Jim Crow becasue you mentioned it. That was not too long ago. People tend to think it was millions of years ago but it wasn't. That's just a way for people to dismiss when black people say that racism exists. By the way, IT DOES. Now you're experiencing the other end of it. It's not right, but the creator of this problem is????????

Now, let's not get into all the mumbo jumbo about who had slaves in this or that country. Blah blah blah...let's talk about the here and now. Do a couple of things for me...

Next time you watch television, count how many shows have more than a couple blacks. Next, count how many shows have blacks as the lead characters. On the big screen, how many times in the last year was a black person the lead character in a movie. Hmmmm. And you wonder why there's a such thing as BET.

Why do you care so much, anyway. Black people have had the stale end of the deal since the beginning and here you go trying to take, yet again, something away. Why can't you just allow blacks to have BET? It's not hurting you. You can turn on any channel on your cable and see whites dominating the airwaves.

This whole thing stinks of arrogance. You don't need a specific station for whites, TURN ON ANY CHANNEL and you've got your white entertainment tv. It's the truth dear. Don't try to make up some hogwash. That's the truth! You don't need white colleges because EVERY COLLEGE with the exception of the historically black colleges are dominated by whites! What are you crying about. It's like you want everything!

Stop being selfish!

I am an african american and i agree that some black people use their race to as an excuse for their problems and that is just wrong. What you don't know is that some of those people have been in some real racist situations. Racism is not a thing of the past. But I don't think it should be used as a means to attack someone else's race. Until you walk in the other persons shoes you don't know how it is. Growing up i lived in a predominately white society, as a matter of fact my family was one of the three black families there and i heard a lot of racist stuff growing up, but i also had a lot of white friends and i am still friends with them to this day.

this is a broad topic to talk on. So this is how i deal with it. I trust the Lord in all that I do. Anything that comes up that is against his word is from satan and that includes racism. So you might hear people being racist to the white society in your office etc. but a true christian would never do that. I see people as saved or not saved not black or white or Mexican etc. Where i work we have a mixture of them all and 1 girl that is German makes racist remarks to us all but i don't think she knows she is doing it because that's the way she was raised. If someone is offending you tell your supervisor if it is really bothering you. Other wise I say just pray about it.

God Bless!!!

Are you stupid??? Everyone is allowed to share in Black only projects. Now, the Black only colleges were created because most White schools wouldn't allow them in. There are many white kids who go to these "black" ivy league colleges because they cant afford the "white" ivy league schools, by the way those schools only want you if your super smart, play sports good or you have lots of money so go figure??? Everyone is discriminated against. If your ugly, poor, handicap, fat, a woman or if your gay and everyone wants special treatment not just "blacks." The foundation of America is to stand out and make something of yourself instead of worring about others. I live between three major cities, every culture and sexuality has a month and a parade. This month is for the Italians, with lots of parades and festivals. If the black kids in your class offend you then you need to say something. If your in college this is sad to think your this dumb to worry about these things you should be thinking above this level :(

Ok...I'm so sick of the whole black/white issue with people commenting on slavery and that stupid CMT (does anyone really watch that anyway?)

Can't we all just get along?

Some people see the world as black and white. Not to exclude other colors/races what have you. I choose to be color blind to the whole thing and that has rubbed off on my child, who now dates someone not of our own color or heritage. The only race that I choose to belong to is the human race!! Not to say I'm not proud of my heritage or the like, I am. That does not mean I can't be proud of others.

We live in a world where sadly, there are racial; religious; political; etc. persecutions...and most likely always will be. I personally, choose not to include myself in those persecutions and I'm happier for it. However, if I see it happening...I try to stop it or help the person being persecuted. I like to be color blind, but I'm not blind completely!!

I agree with you. And the society and some media seem to condone this way of thinking. I wish they would quit griping about it. Yes their ancestors were treated bad, but look at all the opportunities they are not only given, but are free to claim? For some reason they do not realize that in other countries people have gone through a lot worse and are being treated badly by their own people - of the same color and race.
What happened to thinking out of the box? Actually, what has happened to thinking?

It's not 300 years ago. It's 50 years ago -- segregation, KKK, etc., all sorts of stupidity.

But I'd say that by now it should be over. After all, Michael Jackson, a black man, was the King of Pop in 1984. The KING. Pretty good!

Good question asked many times here.
Blacks are the most racist race on earth even to each other.
Every race on earth suffered under slavery. England was under the Roman Empire for 450 years as slaves, and most of the English peoples are now a mixture of those Roman Slaves brought there from all over the known world. Most of the original English people were killed to extinction by Roman conquests. There are probley no true English people left. In comparison Ireland and Scotland were never completely occupied and are scottish and Ireland in heritage.YOu never hear a black mention this.
In comparisojn to what the Indians of America and South America and Central America suffered suffered and the people enslaved under MoHAMMAD the Mad when he forced a large segment of the world to accept Islam the black race had it easy.
Blacks scream racism to demand a free ride and we as a whole are sick of it. why don't they go black to their beloved africa where they can live in peace, love and the whole wonderful land will love and honor and care for them.

Look at the Jews they were slaughtered a lot more recently than slavery and they run everything without any government assistance. The balcks as a whole just want everything done for them by the government it has been 150 years and they still cant get their stuff together...the must just like being a ghetto subrace.

If there were a white only college, a white only college fund, a white entertainment network, people would blow a gasket. There's too much of an entitlement mentality at work. My dad is a full-blood Cherokee, so where's MY entitlements?
