I agree with you. There's a lot more work to be done so that kind of celebration seems pretty excessive. It's not like the NFL celebrates like that every time they win a playoff game and that's about the equivalent of what the baseball teams have accomplished. I could see it if they win the NL or AL series but not just because they won their division and the division playoffs.

Its still a victory. Its fun and should be celebrated. Let me tell you....I was at the game and seeing the Tigers beat the Yankees was the most exciting thing I have ever experienced!

I think its cause they want to celebrate another step towards the ultimate goal of winning the World Series. I think its good to celebrate every step towards a goal no matter how small it may seem.

but with the terrible length of the MLB season, 162 games vs.16, or 82, any excuse to spray liquor around will be found.

its fun winning something even if its not the big one, they wanna feel good for at least 3 days before getting smoked by the good teams.
