A good friend of mine has to write a paper on why they shouldn't dismiss him from something. In short. A paper to waive something. Can someone give me a strong introduction. I can handle the rest. But I hate writing introductions. Even an example would be great. Just something to go off of! Thanks!

Your purpose is not entirely clear. Do you mean being dismissed from a job or to obtain a waiver of a punishment or penalty? You 'll have to improvise a little but here's a possibility.

Dear Sir

I am fully aware of the potential impending action that is to be taken against me and I feel that, before such a consideration is made or decided upon, you should be made aware of a few salient facts that may affect your decision. It may be that your view has been prejudiced without your having the opportunity to review this information and I believe it only proper that you should be in full possession of all relevant knowledge before reaching your conclusion.

(Then you will need to present the facts in defence of your claim.)

Hope this helps.

G'day Jessica,

Thank you for your question.

You are a good friend for doing this.

It would useful to know what he doesn't want to be dismissed from. If it is his job, you should emphasise the good things your friend has done for the company and apologise if necessary for the wrong things he did. If it is a parking or driving ticket, I would emphasise a good driving record and apologise for a mistake.

As with any piece of writing, an introduction should set the tone for the rest of the paper. It should outline the points you intend to expand further on and capture the interest of the person making the decision. It is important for you to sit down and think about what would make the strongest case for your friend.

I have attached some additional resources for your reference.

Best wishes to you and your friend.

Regards

How about, "Both my parents suffer from severe mental disabilities."

Or..."It was often thought by the majority that it was a good idea to segregate black people. Eventually, this changed..."
