That would be Windows and all the programs that are installed. 6GB is not a lot of space anymore. Try upgrading to a bigger drive...you'll be glad you did. They are quite cheap now...check out TigerDirect.

With PCs, there is never as much hard drive space as is advertised. Pre-installed programs (i.e. Windows and the stuff which comes with Windows) take up space.

Windows alone takes up 3gb, then you probaly have Microsoft office or other programs installed. add that to music and any other software or files and there is your problem. Upgrade to a bigger hard drive. Go to walmart and buy one for 50 bucks or go to tigerdirect.com or newegg.com

First chech how much space you have now and write it down.

Run "Disk Cleanup". Check all boxes except for "Compress fies"
If you are running XP and while you are in "Disk Cleanup" utility, select tab "More options" click "Cleanup" under system restore.
Finally run disk defragmenter.

Now check how much disk space you have and let me know.

You must have Windows on it, right? Windows is a program, and it takes up plenty of space.
