how big does an iPod have to be to hold 2000-3000 songs (no extra features)?

i lost my old iPod and i want to get a new one... but maybe i can get the cheaper version this time... does anyone know if songs from iTunes can be successfully uploaded onto an mp3 playing device?

well get the new 8gb ipod nano. holds 2000 songs and it only cost $250. they are really nice. they have a ton of cool stuff. read about and buy em here.
