They are of great value
"FRIEND"
is more valuable than these gems.
In order to describe the value of this term , people compare the same with any other valuable things which a human being loves the most.
It just indicates how important Friendship really means.

Pearl-deep inside sea in a oyster.
Diamond-deep inside the earth.
Both take time and energy to be made,same way as we have to spend time and energy to keep our friends.

friendship is like diamond and brotherhood is like gold.the reason is that if u break with your broother u will make with him again as gold can be moulded again to its shape.But if friendship is broken then there wil be the cracks even after making again bcos diamond can never be moulded to its original shape again.
